I have enjoyed walking for most of my adult life but I have never attempted anything on this scale. Having once visited Tanzania when I was a lot younger and seeing Kili from a far distance it has always been an ambition of mine to go back and reach the summit.
This opportunity allows me to fulfill this whilst also raising some much needed funds for these local causes. In particular we have a close family link to Cry for Mathew as he was a close friend to my daughter Kate at school. Kate has done her bit by raising a lot of money by swimming the equivalent of the channel so I thought it was about time I pulled my finger out and made my contribution.
CRY for Mathew - 12 young people a week die from undiagnosed heart defects. In 2012 Mathew became one of those statistics. As well as one of Liam's friends back when they were in school, at only 13 years old. That's why raising money for cardiac risk in the young is extremely important to us.
The Wingate Centre - provide amazing activities, support and life enriching holidays for young children with special needs.
Mid Cheshires Hospital Charity - there aim is to enhance the provision of first class healthcare and provide benefits for our . patients over and above standard NHS provision. This charity has helped a lot of local families and their children.
RedShift - an amazing hub and local radio station providing networking, support and some brilliant local opportunities through their business hub and radio platform.
